Waist Circumference:  A measurement around the body at the waist.  This is used to determine body fat levels that may increase the risk of obesity related health problems.
Weight Control: The purpose is to achieve and maintain a healthy weight by eating right and performing regular physical activities.
Weight-Cycle:  Commonly referred to as "yo-yo" dieting and consists of a never ending cycle of losing and gaining weight over and over again.  Due to the loss of lean muscle tissue during this process there is a worsening of the percentage of body fat with each weight loss and gain cycle.
Whiplash:  A compression movement injury to the cervical spine that occurs from a sudden, rapid and involuntary hyper-flexion and or hyper-extension of the neck.  The most common cause of this condition is an automobile accident.
Wrist Circumference: The measurement of the wrist at its thinnest point, just proximal to the hand.  This measurement is then used to estimate the size of an individual's overall skeletal structure.
Walk In:  A patient visit that was not a scheduled appointment.
Wellness Care: Care that goes beyond pain relief and correction.  This level of care attempts to achieve or promote an optimum state of physical, mental and social well-being.
Work Hardening:  A course of physical conditioning, work simulation and education to build strength and endurance.  This process is used to speed up recovery and help the injured employee return to work.
Worker’s Compensation:  A special type of insurance that covers employees.  The illness, injury or disability must occur during the course of their employment to be covered under workers compensation law.
